''Quercus pumila'' (runner oak〔 or running oak) is a North American species of oaks in the beech family. It is native to the southeastern United States (Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas).〔〔(Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants )〕 ''Quercus pumila'' is a deciduous shrub usually less than one meter (40 inches) tall. Bark is gray or dark brown.
